Little People Preschool General Information
A child is considered to be enrolled in Little People Preschool only after the registration fee has been received, the administrator confirms the availability of space and the required paperwork is received. No child should begin his/her first day of school until all forms are complete and on file at the preschool.
A medical form, including the date of the exam must be signed by a physician or certified nurse practitioner and is required to be submitted before attending school. This medical form must be updated every 12 months. Should a child enter the program later in the year, he/she shall have up to 30 days to complete and return the Medical Statement to the administrator.
Information needed to register includes but is not limited to:
- Child’s birth date
- Two people other than parents to contact in case of emergency, including addresses and phone numbers.
- child Enrollment and Health Information Form – completed and signed by parents.
- Immunization records – must be up-to-date.
- Phone numbers where parents can be reached if not at home
- Doctor’s name, address and phone number
- Class roster information signed
- Medical Statement must be complete
- Copies of any and all court papers that pertain to the child
Any changes to this information must be communicated to the office immediately so that current information is always on file. This is for the safety of your child.
It is unlawful for the center to discriminate int he enrollment of children upon the basis of race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, or disability in violation of ADA act of 1990.
Your child’s records are confidential and need to be disclosed only to the Director of Ohio Department of Jobs and Services or his representative for the purpose of administration and enforcement of Chapter 5104 of the Revised Code.
Rosters for each class shall include the parent’s name and phone number and will be made available to each parent in that class upon request from the administrator. The roster will not include the name, address, or phone number of any parent who requsts this information not be included. The parent, upon registering the child, shall sign a statement as to whether or not the information may be used on the class roster. Confidential information will be released to a Director’s representative of Job’s and Family Services.
CHILD ABUSE REPORTING
All staff members are mandated reporters of child abuse. If staff has suspicions that a child is being abused or neglected, they MUST make a report to the local children’s services agency. The safety of the children is always our first concern.
DAYS OF OPERATION
Little People Preschool is a 9-month program from September to May. These class offerings are based upon enrollment.
The preschool reserves the right to request withdrawal of a child for any of the following reasons:
- Parent unable to follow school policies
- Delinquency in tuition payment
- inability of child to adapt to the program
Parents are required to bring their children into the classroom and to sign the child in on the clipboard by the door. Any special messages, special pick-up notes, etc. are to be given to the teacher. children may not be dropped off at the entrances of the building or be sent inside alone. Staff must be made aware of each child’s presence before the parent departs. Likewise, the child must be signed out at the conclusion of class each day. Staff will release children only to persons on the release form provided by the parent. This is to help ensure the utmost safety for the children. any unfamiliar person picking up a child will be asked for a photo ID.
Please contact the school (330-854-1025) and call your child off when your child is ill or will not be there for the day. Please call and let us know when your child has a communicable disease (example: pink eye, strep throat and chicken pox). ODJFS requires notification to parents when children have been exposed.
If there are custody issues involved with your child,you must provide the center with court papers indicating who has permission to pick up the child, this documentation will be kept on file. The center may not deny a parent access to their child without proper documentation.
The Little People Preschool (LPPS) follows the Northwest Local School District’s calendar regarding holidays, vacation, and days off. Please note LPPS does take additional days that the Northwest Local Schools do not take. LPPS will make a calendar available to all parents and/or guardians. All dates are listed on the event calendar on the LPPS website.
SNOW DAYS/INCLEMENT WEATHER
LPPS will be closed for inclement weather when the Northwest Local School District announces they are closed. For a listing of school closing listen to radio station WHBC 94.1 FM, WAKR 1590 AM and WHLO 640 AM. Should there be a “2 hour delay” for Northwest Local Schools, our morning classes will be cancelled, but our afternoon classes will be in session.
